Relationships are the ‘stuff of life’ and how successful we are in them comes down to our attitudes and skills. In this seminar, gain wisdom and strategies to improve what’s most important.

We are all involved in relationships; they are the ‘stuff of life’ aren’t they?  And how we do in those relationships is determined by two things; skills and attitudes. Skills such as:- Negotiation, assertiveness, respect, vocabulary and propositioning skills; attitudes such as humility or pride, deference or narcissism, respect or intrusiveness.  In this One Day Seminar entitled ‘Building Better Relationships’ we explore these factors in more depth, asking ourselves where  we learnt (or mis-learnt) these skills, how to resolve those gnarly ‘pretend agreements’ that sour so many potential friendships, and discovering the difference between aggression and assertiveness; respect and projection.

This seminar is biblically based and suitable for all age groups over 14 years, and highly relevant to finding success in marriage, professional, family and church life.

Are you feeling strung out or weighed down by the challenges of life?
In this seminar, gain wisdom and strategies to improve your mental and emotional health from expert David Riddell.

Those unruly moods and emotions; many questions arise when we come to consider our usual emotional habits.  Are they still helpful - an asset or a liability to our progress?  What drives them?   Are you really choosing them, or did they show up before you had a chance to select them for yourself?  And should we medicate or retrain in techniques of mindfulness those who struggle to celebrate life from under the burden of anxiety or depression?  Perhaps the most common attitude is the one that turned up more out of habit than was in any sense chosen.

Many people got into the habit of reacting before ever they got into the habit of thinking; perhaps it was the parents who dropped the ball, preferring to take a hands off approach, thus leaving the child helpless and powerless in the grip of emerging emotional energy they could not control.  Or did the child bring it all upon themselves by consistently refusing to submit to parental guidance and the attitude was subsequently able to take on a life of its own, creating ensuing success or chaos  in life and relationships.

So what can be done about these ragged moods and emotions?  In this seminar, hosted by Beachside Church, NZ Counsellor and Principal of  ‘Living Wisdom Life Skills’ David Riddell shares wisdom and strategies gained from a life-time of helping people regain mental, emotional and relational health, and shows how faith and psychology can join forces to aid in this struggle.
